YARIK
One of the four major elements: wind, water, fire, and earth, as described by the Manyari and Valkys. Yarik courses through all of Nevold and is able to be controlled and manipulated by many of its creatures. Yarik can be combined and transformed, depending on the wielder. The Children of Man have their own ability to access yarik, which they call Alterence.
YARIK STONES/CRYSTALS
Inorganic minerals, stones, and crystals that have naturally occurring yarik elements or that have the ability to store yarik by changing the channels or flow of energy through the stones. A proper yarik stone crafter and user can manipulate the elements to serve a multitude of purposes.
OTHER YARIK ENERGIES
-
With the assistance of a pair of wind yarik earrings, Manyari can have the power of suggestion. Melodic words carried on the winds of yarik that flow through a subject’s mind, compelling them to listen and, for the most powerful singers, obey. Only those gifted with the voice can effectively entrance others, as the yarik stone is only effective in amplifying and extending their range.
-
A series of pillars along the perimeter of Orahai’s eastern borders that conceal the village. The wards are inlaid with yarik stones at their base and issued with the command to stretch a blade-thin, watery surface from point to point. It creates a mirrored reflection that gives the illusion that the forest continues endlessly.
ALTERENCE
Synonymous with Yarik, Alterence is the Children of Man’s defining name for the worldly, elemental energies.
ALTECHNOLOGY
The self-named technology of Man’s artificial use of yarik through machinery that charges and retrieves yarik through stones and crystals. Their forms of storage devices are called Tessels and function in the same manner as yarik stones.
Also known as Altech.
SPIRITS
Entities of light that cannot interact with the normal world and are usually unable to be perceived. They tend to follow and congregate around yarik energies and important events involving new or changing energies, such as births and deaths.
